Women in Leadership Scholarship Challenge

Win a full scholarship to the Henley Business School Africa Global Executive MBA

📣 Why is it so difficult to name and challenge inequality inside organisations, even when formal commitments to equality exist?

This is the question we are asking applicants to our inaugural Henley Business School Africa Women in Leadership Scholarship Challenge, where the winner stands to win a full scholarship and the runner up a 50% scholarship to our Global Executive MBA programme, starting this October.

This campaign is part of our practical commitment to encouraging gender balance within leadership teams across Africa. We are looking to support and develop strong talent capable of commanding boardrooms globally.

Who can enter this competition?

The Henley Global Executive MBA is a premium, dual-accredited UK and SA MBA built for executives who intend to build balanced, high-performing global teams. The Scholarship Challenge is open to anyone who is committed to building inclusive organisations and fostering collective action at both an individual and systemic level. Participants do not need to apply for the Global Executive MBA before entering this competition, but are expected to check that they qualify for entry to the programme.

Please make sure that you qualify for a place on the MBA before you proceed with the scholarship submission. Admissions criteria include:
- At least three years' management experience
- An Honours degree or equivalent professional or international qualification at an NQF Level 8
- Evidence of competence in English
- Access to company data for assignment purposes

More information on the Global Executive MBA programme is available on our website.

The 2026 essay challenge

We invite entries from experienced managers, project leaders, and strategists who pre-qualify for admission to the Global Executive MBA programme. To enter, you must submit a rigorous, evidence-based essay of no more than 800 words sharing your perspective on why it remains difficult to challenge inequality inside organisations, even when formal commitments to equality exist.

What the judges are looking for

The final judging panel will shortlist up to 10 finalists, and the winners will be announced in early August 2026. We are looking for submissions that make us think differently, challenge the status quo, and demonstrate a real understanding of the dilemmas faced. Your argument should draw on data and research, but you are encouraged to also weave in your own professional experience, which could include examples of initiatives you have worked on, or are in the process of designing.
