I am very sad to share with you the news of the death of our much-loved colleague, Vivien Spong, who passed away at the weekend after a long and brave struggle with chronic illness.
Vivien, who retired in July last year after nearly a quarter of a century of service, latterly as the school’s senior MBA programme manager, started with Henley in April 1999.
We are poorer for her passing, but all of us – faculty, staff, students and alumni – who had the privilege of knowing her, are infinitely richer for the privilege of having her touch our lives. In her career she helped improve the lives of many thousands of students and in so doing, their families and companies. Vivien was a Henley Africa pioneer who played a huge role in our growth and development from a single MBA programme to a full business school. She
helped shape us to where we are today. In the future her influence will guide us, and we will all hold a special memory of her.
I remember Vivien saying, at an alumni dinner a few years ago:
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time, and I know that those of you who knew her will share our
sorrow at her passing.
If you are a friend, colleague, student, alumni or knew Vivien and would like to attend, please contact:
